How To Setup Notifications of a Monitor?

Notifications are a very sensitive issue. Check out this quick guide to help you make the best choices for yourself:

  • From monitors list find your monitor's card you want to edit the notifications settings. Then hit the pencil icon in the top right.

  • After that select "Notifications" tab.

Let's continue explaining all parts of notifications settings on Uptime Monitor as an example.

User Channel

In this section you will see all users and notification channels.

  • You can enable/disable the channels you have integrated with switches for each user.

Unfortunately, you cannot select channels that you have not integrated. First, you must integrate the channel you want to enable.

There are many channels and you can find detailed information about how to integrate each of them from the following links:

Notification Preference

In this section you will only make a choice regarding "the first notification".

You will choose when you want to be notified when Robotalp detects an incident. We have two options:

  • First option is to immediately send "the first notification" when an incident is detected.

  • Second option is to send "the first notification" after a specific time period when an incident is detected.

  • When you select this option, a new selection section will appear. Select how long Robotalp should wait before sending "the first notification" when it detects an incident.

Let's say you chose 10 minutes. Robotalp has detected an incident but will wait 10 minutes before sending the first notification. If the incident still persists after 10 minutes, now it's the time to send the first notification.

Notification Frequency

What if "the first notification" came and the problem still persists? In this section, you will only make a choice about the frequency of notifications.

You will choose how often you want to be notified when Robotalp detects an incident. We have two options:

  • The first option is to send the notification only once when it detects an incident.
So, you will be notified only once according to "the first notification" preference above.

  • The second option is to send notifications again within a specific time period when it detects an incident.
So, you will choose how often notifications will come after "the first notification".

  • When you select this option, a new selection section will appear. Select how often Robotalp should send notifications when it detects an incident.

Let's say you set the "Check interval" to 5 minutes and "Notification frequency" to 1 hour:

Check interval: Located at the bottom of the "Monitor" window.

Notification frequency: Located at the bottom of the "Notifications" window.

So, now ? What do these time settings mean? If Robotalp detects any incident during the 5-minute checks; it will send notifications once every hour. Therefore, when making your notification settings, try to choose the one that suits you best.
